More Summer Activities, More Fun

More Summer Activities, More Fun

If you're wondering how to get fit for summer, there's just so many summer activities to do out there, and so little time to do them all. Those who love the feel of water on their skin can go swimming, surfing, wakeboarding, and paddleboarding, while those who love the great outdoors can go hiking, bouldering, camping, or biking. Sure, exercising in the summer can be challenging for a lot of people (especially those who don't like standing around in the heat!), but the summer is such a great time to finally have a change of pace in your workout routine. All you need to do is add a dash of creativity, make sure that you are staying safe from the extreme heat, and then just dive in.

How to make summer workouts fun?

Be Social

Be social

No man is an island, as the old saying goes. And what better time to make new friends than in the summer? One great way to make exercising in the warm weather bearable is to have other people along for the ride. Of course, there's your usual team sports like beach volleyball, basketball, and others, but you can also have your buddies tag along with you if you're training for a race or trying out a new activity. If you want to find new folks to workout with go to social media; while neighborhood Facebook groups are a great place to start.

Try New Stuff

Try New Stuff

Try something new and weird. Swimming and beach volleyball are not the only activities you can do this summer. Try something new like stand-up paddleboard (which is like kayaking, but on a paddleboard), mermaid swimming (where you get to swim using mermaid flippers), and paddleboard yoga (think of it like doing yoga but instead of solid ground you're on the sea).

Take Advantage of Technology

Take Advantage of Technology

With all of the hubbub during this season, it's gets very easy to lose track of one's fitness goals. This is why you should use the tech at your disposal to help you stick to your goals and fitness plans. Try investing in a smartwatch; this gadget can help you calculate distance, calories burned, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and other such metrics for your workouts. If you're training to run a race or a marathon, there are apps out there you can download that can provide you with training plans and info regarding nutrition, warmups, equipment, and other such topics that you would find useful.
